Effective date: 10 July 2026 | Last updated: 10 July 2026 | Version: 2.0
1. Introduction
PickPCParts (“we”, “our”, “us”) operates pickpcparts.in and related services, including the laptop section at laptops.pickpcparts.in. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what choices you have.
By creating an account or using our services, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Jurisdiction. This policy is written for users in India and is governed by Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and applicable rules thereunder. Users outside India may use the site at their own discretion and remain subject to local laws where they live.
2. What we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account details: username, email address, password (stored as a hash), date of birth, and age-related flags used for eligibility checks.
- Google sign-in: if you register or log in with Google, we receive basic profile information from Google (such as your name, email address, and Google account identifier) to create or link your account.
- Profile information: display name, bio, and profile picture if you choose to add them.
- Consent records: timestamps and method of consent for age verification, privacy policy acceptance, terms acceptance, and data processing consent.
- User-generated content: saved PC builds, completed build submissions, comments, build guide interactions, forum posts, retailer reviews (including uploaded proof-of-purchase images where required), and related metadata.
- Contact and inquiry forms: name, email, subject, and message content when you contact us or submit a partner price inquiry.
- Partner lead inquiries: if you use “Inquire Best Price” on the PC Builder, we collect your name, email, phone number, city, optional notes, and a snapshot of your current build configuration.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, referral URLs, and similar server or security logs.
- Usage data: pages visited, product views, outbound retailer link clicks, builder activity, and interaction with site features such as favorites and comparisons.
- Cookie and local storage data: login sessions, PC Builder state, consent preferences, theme preference, and where you accept non-essential cookies analytics identifiers.
- Security verification data: Cloudflare Turnstile may process interaction signals to help prevent automated abuse on forms and sensitive actions.
- Advertising analytics: if ads are shown, we may record impressions, clicks, and a privacy-friendly visitor identifier to measure ad performance.
2.3 Information we do not collect
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data such as financial account details, government ID numbers, health records, or biometric data. Please do not submit this information through comments, forums, reviews, or support messages.
3. How we use your information
We use personal data to:
- create, authenticate, and maintain your account;
- verify your email address and enforce minimum age requirements;
- operate the PC Builder, product archives, price comparison, deals pages, and related tools;
- save builds, favorites, notifications, and dashboard preferences;
- publish, moderate, and display community content you submit;
- process contact requests, support messages, and partner lead inquiries;
- measure site usage, improve performance, and detect abuse;
- comply with legal obligations and respond to valid requests.
We process data based on your consent, performance of our service to you, legitimate interests (such as security and product improvement), and legal obligations where applicable.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a cookie consent banner that lets you accept all cookies or decline non-essential cookies.
- Essential cookies and storage are required for core functionality, including login sessions, PC Builder state, saved preferences, and cross-subdomain authentication on
.pickpcparts.in. These remain active regardless of analytics consent. - Analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics, managed through our site configuration) are used only if you accept non-essential cookies.
- Theme preference is stored locally in your browser and is not used to identify you.
You can change cookie choices from the banner, your user dashboard (Consent Management tab), or your browser settings. Declining analytics cookies stops new analytics tracking and clears known analytics cookies where possible.
5. Affiliate links, pricing, and advertising
Some pages include affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon. If you purchase through those links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Retailers handle checkout, payment, and order fulfilment under their own privacy policies. We do not receive your full purchase details from retailers.
Outbound retailer links may be routed through our tracking URLs to record click activity before redirecting you to the retailer site. This helps us understand which retailers users choose; it does not give us access to your order information.
We may display sponsored banner advertisements on some pages. Sponsored placements are labeled accordingly. Ad performance may be measured using privacy-friendly identifiers.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information in these situations:
- Service providers that help us run the site, such as hosting, image delivery (ImageKit), security (Cloudflare), email delivery, and analytics (with consent).
- Partner retailers when you submit a confirmed “Inquire Best Price” request, so they can respond to your inquiry.
- Legal and safety reasons when required by law, court order, or to protect users, our rights, or the integrity of the platform.
- Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Public content you post such as forum discussions, published completed builds, comments, and public profile fields may be visible to other visitors and may be indexed by search engines. Treat public areas accordingly.
7. Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described above:
- Active accounts: account and profile data is retained while your account remains active.
- Contact form submissions: retained for up to 180 days, then deleted.
- Unconfirmed partner leads: retained for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Deleted accounts: personal data such as saved builds, favorites, build history, and private logs is deleted. Public community contributions (for example, published completed builds, comments, and likes) may be retained in anonymised form and shown as posted by a deleted user.
- Aggregated or de-identified data may be kept longer for statistics and service improvement.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including HTTPS, password hashing, access controls, rate limiting, bot protection, and routine monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal data, we will take steps required under applicable law, including notifying the Data Protection Board of India and affected users where required.
9. Your rights
Under applicable Indian privacy law, you may have the right to:
- know what personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- request access to or a copy of your data;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to legal retention requirements;
- raise a grievance with us or the relevant authority.
You can manage much of your data directly from your user dashboard, including profile updates, cookie preferences, data export requests, and account deletion. Data export requests are processed within 30 days and may be submitted once every 30 days.
For privacy requests, contact [email protected] or our Grievance Officer (details below).
Required consents for account operation cannot be withdrawn without deleting your account, because we cannot provide registered services without them.
10. Children’s privacy
You must be at least 13 years old to register. We ask for date of birth during registration and flag accounts belonging to users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
11. International processing
Our primary operations are in India. Some service providers may process data on servers outside India (for example, Google, Cloudflare, or ImageKit infrastructure). Where required, we rely on contractual safeguards and applicable legal requirements for cross-border transfers.
12. Third-party services
We use third-party services that have their own privacy policies, including:
- Google (sign-in and analytics, where enabled)
- Cloudflare (security, Turnstile, and performance)
- ImageKit (image hosting and delivery)
- WordPress (platform foundation)
Links to retailer websites, social platforms, or other external sites are governed by those sites’ policies, not ours.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by notice on the site. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
